三星GalaxyS5期待已久的升级

世界移动通信大会召开在即，高科技圉的人都在讨论今年的三星Galaxy S 会是什么样子。今年是三星发布Galaxy S系列的第五个版本，现在已经谣言四起了。

With the Mobile World Congress just around the corner, the tech world is buzzing about the possible specifications that will be on this year"s Samsung Galaxy S flagship smartphone.

This year will be the fifth release of the Galaxy S, and rumours are spreading fast.

The Galaxy S4 was a huge success, and at almost a year old, it"s still a very capable smartphone.

my earlier review, I called it a gimmicky smartphone which was ugly and felt cheap to the touch.

Don"t worry, my opinion about it hasn"t changed; it still feels cheap, although it isn"t really.

So needless to say, it will be easy for the new Galaxy S5 to blow me away.

Rumoured specs

According to rumours, the S5"s body is finally going to get an upgrade.

Various reports have Samsung acquiring different companies for their polycarbonate and aluminium technology.

So the likelihood of the S5 being a premium product is very high. Many believe that it will have a unibody metal design, while others believe it will be flexible or curved like the LG G Flex and Samsung Galaxy R.

I would like to think it takes on a more traditional approach, being just a simple candybar-styled device and leave the bendy bits to a Samsung Galaxy R2.

What could also be possible is having two versions of the Galaxy S5, a normal and a premium, with the normal continues the form of Samsung"s usual plasticy self.

In terms of the hardware, some of it looks like a fantasy. But if it all comes true, the S5 will have a 2K screen (2,560x1,440 resolution), equipped with an AMOLED display.

It would only be natural for Samsung to gun for the best pixels per inch (ppi) and screen density in the market for their next flagship.

Its internals will feature the latest Exynos 6 processor or even the Snapdragon 805, which would make it unrealistically fast.

As for the camera, it would seem likely to have a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stablisation, which isn"t too far off from what the Note 3 and LG G2 have right now.

In December, Samsung has also revealed an 8GB or 1GB DDR4 memory chip which has low power consumption.

People are already speculating that there would be at least 3GB of or maybe even 4GB of RAM for the S5.

My home"s desktop computer is still on DDR2 RAM, by the way.

The software would be a guaranteed Android Kit Kat 4.4, as it would be simply hysterical for the S5 to have anything less. It would be launched with TouchWiz, but make no mistake, it isn"t the old TouchWiz.

The new leaks of TouchWiz show a totally different software altogether with widget tiles that fill up the entire screen. Think of Windows Phone meet Android widgets. The combination forms a "widget tile" that would neatly display all your information in customiseable tiles. It sounds pretty neat and I can"t wait to see how it officially looks.

Besides blazing-fast tech specs, what about other gimmicks? The S5 is rumoured to come with an iris scanner, which sounds insane. In theory, this would work with the same way as a proximity sensor, which allows you to unlock the phone just by looking at it.

Variations are now a common thing. Samsung has made everything a variation with the Note 3, 8, 10.2, 12.2, S4, S4 Zoom, S4 Active, S4 Mini. I can"t and don"t keep track of them all.

You can bet that the S5 will have a lot of variation and there"s already talk about an S5 Zoom with a new advanced pixel technology for CMOS image sensors. This lets you take clearer, high-quality pictures on your mobile device.

So when? Industry insiders are pointing at MWC in February 2014, but some are saying that"s too soon for the fabled Galaxy S5 and it may be released only in April.

That certainly assures us that the S5 will be available for purchase in the next three months. So if you"re waiting for the next best selling phone in the world, it"s actually just right around the corner.
